Galle, Weligama, Ahangama, Mirissa & Beyond
If we had to pick a stretch of coast that shows off Sri Lanka’s charm, it would be the Southern Riviera, from the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort to the sun-washed bays of Mirissa. This coastline, shaped by the rhythm of the waves, is best enjoyed slowly, every beach has its own mood.
Galle Fort is our favourite start, with cobbled streets, colonial architecture, and hidden cafés. Ahangama and Weligama bring a relaxed, creative energy with gentle surf breaks, barefoot beach bars, stilt fishermen, and cinnamon heritage. Mirissa is even gentler, perfect for long swims, lazy mornings, and ocean safaris where whales often pass close to shore. Surf, fishing, fresh seafood, and coconut groves make it impossible not to fall in love.
